Malaria is an infectious is caused by a total of four different single-cell parasites known as Plasmodium. These parasites are spread through the female mosquito. Cinnamon can be used as an alternative treatment for malaria. It contains three compounds namely cinnamyl acetate, cinnamaldehyde and cinnamyl alcohol. These compounds help to provide medical benefits to malaria patients. The properties that are found within cinnamon are calcium, fiber, iron and manganese.

To use cinnamon in the treatment of malaria treatment, start by boiling 1 cup of water. Once the water gets boiled, add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder to the liquid. Allow it to boil in the water for two minutes before removing from heat and placing into a glass. You can add 1 tablespoon of honey to add flavor and drink two times per day.

Feverfew is another effective remedy for the treatment of malaria. It is also known as Tan acetum parthenium and is closely related to sunflower. This herb helps to reduce fever. Feverfew contains parthenolides, the main compound that provides medical benefits within feverfew. It helps to reduce inflammation and lowers fevers associated with malaria, influenza and common cold. This herb is available in the form of tablet, capsule and in a dried extract form.

Ayurvedic can be an alternative therapy to cure malaria. This treatment makes use of prescriptions like massaging oils, herbs and spices in the affected areas of the body. This helps the body to purify from infection of malaria.

Neem, a natural product that is derived from the flowers of ancient trees has the power to cure malaria. The paste of the flower is mixed in with a number of other spices and herbs. It is then applied with a wet cloth to the affected area. It can also be added to a warm bath for the patient to get it dissolve in the skin.

Diet serves as an important means to cure malaria patients. Patients should undergo a well-balanced diet consisting of seeds, fruits and grains. It is good to avoid foods like fried foods, condiments and pickles, fleshy foods, tea, coffee, white sugar and alcoholic beverages should be totally avoided by patients suffering from malaria.

The application of cold packs to the whole body helps to reduce temperature. One can start the process by squeezing out a sheet of large square piece of linen material in cold water and wrapping it tightly around the body and legs. This is followed by covering it with small blanket. The pack should be kept for duration of one hour. Continue it every two to three hours during the day when the temperature is high.

One can try for home remedies as an alternative therapy for malaria. One such remedy is the use of lemon and lime. Allow 2.5gms of lime to dissolve in 50ml of water and juice of one lemon added to it. Take this juice before the onset of fever.
